Hopefully by March the weather will finally warm up and it will be the perfect day for a good old fashioned backyard passata day. I am visualizing the scene from the movie, Look for Alibrandi, where the whole family is together making tomato sauce.
The 1st of March will welcome the inaugural Melbourne Tomato Festival at one of our OrderMaters - Farm Vigano out in South Morang.
The festival aims to bring together everything quintessentially Italian, including producers and the community.
According to organiser Liz Grossi-Rodriguez, inspiration for the festival sprang from "the desire to preserve Italian culture in our region of Melbourne". She adds that "it's about diversity, not only within our customs but in how we grow our food, prepare our ingredients and cook our food" (Goodfood).
